Happy New Year! We hope you all enjoyed the winter holidays as much as we did, immersed in good food and the love of friends and family.
We savored the quiet space at the end of the year, when a sort of societal truce is made to slow down, pause, reflect, and assess. We have used this time to its fullest, and are brimming with ideas for 2014.
As we have gotten back into our routines this week, and are thrilled to share with you that we have begun work in earnest on Commons Volume 2! We are focusing on innovation—examining the energy and enthusiasm within our local food community that is lifting Charlottesville’s profile as a local food capital in the U.S. As with Volume 1, we’ll be utilizing our Community Sponsorship Structure, wherein individuals or businesses fund feature articles about another individual or business in the local food community.
Volume 2 has already been warmly received, and sponsors are signing up to tell stories of the individuals and families who put their livelihoods on the line each to to support our local food community. We are grateful for these partnerships and eager to add to the list. If you or someone you know would like to serve as a sponsor for a story in Commons Volume 2, let us know! We are accepting sponsorships through January 31.
As for Volume 1, our inaugural edition of Commons has been making waves! Since its debut in September 2013, Commons has been:
Accepted into the 2014 Virginia Festival of the Book
Named as a Top 10 Hostess Gift in national edition of The Scout Guide
We are also thrilled that Commons is featured in the February 2014 edition of Virginia Living magazine!
Sales of the book have been strong, and we are deeply appreciative to our retail partners and dedicated readers and followers for that success. Thank you!
In January of last year, Commons was still just a glimmer in our eye—how far we have come thanks to this incredible community. Here’s to 2014 and here’s to YOU!
